Bertrand 'ElkY' Grospellier Poker Bio

Bertrand Grospellier

Frenchman Bertrand Grospellier first tasted success in computer gaming, competing in the World Cyber Games well before discovering poker. One of the top ranked Starcraft players in world, Grospellier even lived in South Korea for a time, playing in the pro gaming leagues there. Thanks to a highly successful gaming career the name ‘ElkY’ is known to online gamers the world over, and after a friend introduced him to PokerStars, his obvious talent found an even wider audience.

The move to PokerStars proved to be an inspired one for ElkY, and he was able to perfect his skills thanks to his massive appetite for the game. He is a regular at all the top events, and won two bracelets at the 2009 World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP). His ability to translate his online prowess to the live environment has been one of his greatest achievements. ElkY has a multiple European Poker Tour (EPT) cashes to his name, which add up to more than $2,000,000, placing him high on the all-time list of money earners for that tour.  The stand-out performance in his career so far was his victory in the 2008 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA), a result that not only secured him one of the biggest prizes in poker - $2,000,000, but also confirmed his place in the top rank of tournament players. He made a successful return to Atlantis in 2009, when he won the PCA High Roller Event for $433,500. Add to these stunning results a second place at Season 3 EPT Copenhagen, and it’s easy to see why ElkY is one of the most feared and revered tournament players on the circuit.

Despite only being on the scene since 2005, ElkY has shown willingness to take on all-comers. He already has multiple World Series of Poker* cashes, and further success on American soil came in 2008, when he won the Festa El Lago tournament at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, netting  $1,411,015, another massive win in what was a stellar year for the Frenchman. His love of travel, cultivated on the pro gaming circuit, means that ElkY is more than happy to jump on a plane to find the best tournament action available. He has even made appearances on the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT), most notably at Season 1 APPT Macau, where he finished in fifth place for $48,576. Bertrand is a member of Team PokerStars Pro and plays online poker only at PokerStars under the user ID ‘ElkY’.
